THE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF CEMENT BOUND MATERIALS IN ROAD PAVEMENTS
An extract is presented of a method developed by the author to compare the costs of using cement bound materials with those of using unbound or bituminous bound materials in pavements. The method can be used to study the economic viability of cement bound materials in capping, sub-base and roadbase layers. The basis of the method is described and an example included to illustrate the ease with which the method can be used and the economic savings that can be gained by using cement bound materials in pavements.
