THE MPC TURBOCHARGING SYSTEM FOR S.E.M.T. PIELSTICK ENGINES-MODULAR PULSE CONVERTER
DAS MPC-AUFLADEVERFAHREN FUER S.E.M.T.-PIELSTICK-MOTOREN-PULSE CONVETER IN MODULBAUWEISE
In order to join the advantages offered by both the multi-pulse system with constant pressure turbocharging systems, S.E.M.T. have developed the so-called modular pulse converter, now generally adopted for every S.E.M.T.-Pielstick engine of 20 bar m.e.p. and more, whatever the cylinder number may be. These developments are described and the obtained results are given. The influence of the number of cylinders and of the firing order on the scavenging process and valve timing are described and the consequences on exhaust valve temperature explained.
