MODERN SYSTEMS FOR STOWING AND LASHING OF CONTAINERS AS DECK CARGO

MODERNE CONTAINER-ZURR-UND STAUSYSTEME AN DECK VON CONTAINERSCHIFFEN

The author claims that the development of container lashing has fallen behind the general development of container vessels. The main problem is the increasing trend to carry more and even loaded containers on deck. The requirement today is a stowing weight of 90 tonnes. Different methods for securing the containers with wire, lash-bars and twist-locks are described and a theory on the forces acting is given. Finally, the use of block-fittings and the Conver Support-Lashing-System which is a combination of posts and gratings are described. Order from NSFI as No. 22191.
