AUTOMATIC MOORING WINCH WITH STRAIN GAUGE FOR LOAD MEASUREMENT AND ELECTRONIC PROCESSING

The new type of load measurement on the Hatlapa automatic mooring winches is described. Hitherto this was done by a torsion bar which gave a mechanical signal to a cam-operated switch. The new device is ring fitted with strain gauges which carry the bearing of the first gear train. The actual load on the winch will influence the bearing load, and analogue signals from the strain gauges are processed by electronics which control the Siemens triple pole changing motor.
