A SEMI-EMPIRICAL APPROACH TO THE PREDICTION OF MANEUVERING DERIVATIVES
To provide practical means for predicting the linear derivatives for manoeuvrability, a semi-empirical approach was made to the description of the forces and moments relevant to the manoeuvring motion of ships. Practical formulae are proposed. Some examples are shown on the applicability of the formulae to predict a vessel's manoeuvering characteristics at the initial design stage.
