CHANGES EXPECTED IN METHODS OF TESTING POLLUTANT EMISSIONS FROM VEHICLE DIESEL ENGINES

ZU ERWARTENDE AENDERUNGEN IN DEN PRUEFMETHODEN FUER DIE SCHADSTOFFEMISSION VON KRAFTFAHRZEUG-DIESELMOTOREN

In association with the application and revision of ECE regulations and other specifications, various modifications to methods of testing are expected in the next few years. These relate to the following: gaseous emissions (pollutant components and methods of measurement; testing cycle; emission values and limit values; special regulations for car diesel engines); density of smoke according to the acceleration method (special limit for engines with exhaust gas turbo charging; type-associated limits for production control; braking method as an alternative proposal); test conditions (engine capacity, engine families, engine equipment, sampling point, atmospheric conditions, test fuel). Other trends in future test methods are reported. (TRRL)
