AUTOMATISCHES UNTERIRDISCHES PARKSYSTEM. RECHNERSTEUERUNG UND MODERNE FOERDERTECHNIK LOESEN PARKPOBLEME

Because of the lack of space in large cities the trend is towards the construction of underground parking garages. An alternative to conventional underground garages is the rotopark system developed in Switzerland and put into operation in Geneva about 5 years ago. The driver steers his car into a cabin, takes the parking disc and leaves the cabin. He has nothing to do with the actual parking manoeuvre. A vertical transporter puts the vehicle onto a pre-selected platform which runs horizontally on one of the underground parking rings. The car is not manipulated again until it is collected, but remains on the platform as instructed by the Computer. Details are given of the system to show its functioning and advantages. (TRRL)
