LIGHT HYDROCARBONS AS SUPPLEMENTARY TRANSPORT FUELS IN AUSTRALIA

The utilisation of lpg as a transport fuel to supplement traditional petroleum fuels offers a number of benefits for energy conservation. These include an increase in the effective yield of transport fuels by the refinery, an increase in the overall engine and refinery efficiency through a potential increased fuel pool research octane number and indirectly through a reduction in vehicle tail- pipe emissions for hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and reduced use of lead alkyls (a).
