WORKBOAT SAFETY-A DESIGN ENGINEER'S VIEWS
The article is concerned with the safety of primarily fishing vessels. Examples of accidents involving Alaskan crab vessels (hard-chine) are presented. A program to assess towing vessel stability is reviewed (USCG), and stability criteria, the calculations required, detail design and the value of regulations are discussed.
