THE ROLE OF THE ENGINEER IN THE WINDSHIP REVOLUTION

The engineering aspects of an introduction of sail power are discussed in view of the following observations: a period must be expected during which both windships and fully powered ships will exist. It is also expected that for a number of ships fuel and windpower will be combined in various proportions. The type of rig to be used, and the proportion of fuel power to be installed, must be intimately linked to the trade. Order from NSFI as No. 22148.
