PRESENTATION OF FLEXIBLE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANES
PRESENTATION DES MEMBRANES SOUPLES D'ETANCHEITE
The membrane described is an organic product, one of a few millimetres thick, one to five metres wide and more than ten metres long. The membrane is presented in the form of a roll easily handled during transport or on site with a light crane. The term "membrane" is used here in the mechanical sense of the word. It is indeed an element of the flexural rigidity but offering a certain resistance in its plane. There are 3 types of membrane depending on its main function in the structure: (1) waterproofing membrane; (2) strengthening membrane; (3) drainage membrane. It is sometimes interesting to combine two of these characteristics in a single membrane. Chemical inertia and suppleness resulting from their high elastic or viscoelastic deformability are advantages of organic membranes. (TRRL)
