NEW SENSORS IN THE SERVICE OF VEHICLE SAFETY

NEUE SENSOREN IM DIENSTE DER SICHERHEIT IM KRAFTFAHRZEUG

Sensors assist in the gathering of data for the safety and economy of motor vehicles. Improved and new sensors from Bosch make possible the release of passive car-occupant protection systems, e.g. Air bags, belt tightening - control of the height of the rear of a vehicle under varying load conditions to improve its road holding and lighting adjustment - the measurement of suction pipe vacuum in electronically controlled ignition systems - the measurement of external temperature to ensure the prompt recognition of frost. The firm of Pierburg, manufacturers of carburettors, has developed a pre-heat system which utilizes exhaust gas heat to warm the suction pipe and thereby achieves advantages for the flow, the consumption and the exhaust quality of the carburettor engine.
