S-BAHN AND METRO TRACK, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO STRUCTURE-BORNE NOISE

If special measures are taken in relation to track construction technology, it should be possible to control the noise level and reduce the noise caused by underground railways which is disturbing in neighbouring buildings. This can be done by inserting the right kind of flexible lining under the ballast, or by designing the track configuration so as to provide a mass-suspension system with an inherent frequency of 8-14 Hz.
