FIRST EVER AGE ANALYSIS OF WORLD BOX FLEET
The tables and figures provided in this article represent the first ever published age analysis of the world box fleet, and also focuses on individual company ownership. Due to the reticence of certain container owners, the age analysis is representative of about 80% of the total fleet currently under survey by the publishers. While lessors revealed age data for slightly over 90% of their aggregate inventory, carriers gave age breakdowns of just under 70% of their combined fleet. Other container owners, such as forwarders, shippers and railways, disclosed age details of about 77% of their small share of the world fleet. The analysis reveals several very interesting trends in the world container fleet; and in each of the five categories surveyed, length, height, type, cladding and ownership, there have been notable developments.
