COMPUTERIZED RADAR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM FOR THE MEXICAN GULF

A comprehensive radar surveillance system with seven remotely located radars is to be installed in the Mexican bay of Campeche. All marine traffic between the oil fields and tanker terminals will be covered from two centralised supervisor stations located 160 km apart. The complex has been ordered by the Mexican oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), with the Norwegian automation specialist, Norcontrol, having overall system responsibility and supplying displays, radar extractors, radar data processing and system software, Racal-Decca, of England, will supply the radars. Planned to be in operation in March 1982, the complex will present the total marine traffic situation of the Campeche oil field area--fully developed, the oil field will comprise 75 platforms--on centralised radar displays; one will be located at a supervisor station at Dos Bocas, and the other on the offshore control platform.
