POSSIBILITIES FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF HYDROFOILS
MOEGLICHKEITEN ZUR WEITERENTWICKLUNG VON TRAGGLUEGELBOOTEN
This paper discusses three types of hydrofoils which have been developed, whose main difference is in the conception of their foils. Those hydrofoils developed in the USA have been designed with a view to use in open waters. They are fitted with foils which can operate fully submerged; however, they do not contribute to stability. These have been produced with an automatic buoyancy steering device which consists of a rather expensive electronic stabilizing installation.
