DESIGN OF PROPULSION SYSTEMS WITH DIESEL ENGINES, USING STANDARDIZED COMPONENTS
GESTALTUNG VON ANTRIEBSANLAGEN MIT DIESELMOTOREN UNTER VERWENDUNG STANDARDISIERTER KOMPONENTEN
Basic considerations and examples taken from the broad range of marine applications provide indication of the advantages achieved by using standardized components in propulsion system design. Standardization relates to both the engine proper and the accessory equipment. As a consequence, it is suggested, the future, within certain power limitations, will see an increasing number of such engines in marine environments.
