GASTURBOANTRIEBE MIT "ELEKTRISCHER WELLE" FUER EISBRECHENDE TANKER

Four different propulsion solutions are presented for an LNG-carrier which is to navigate through ice of more than two meters in thickness with a propulsion power of about 120 MW. The estimation of the propulsion variant is based on actually given periphery conditions. Proof of the suitability of this simple and cost-saving propulsion system for icebreaking ships is given by digital simulation calculations.
