PORT INVESTMENT JUSTIFIED BY LISBON AND LEIXOES

General cargo throughput in Portugal's two major ports, Lisbon and Leixoes, has not been helped in recent years by Portugal's somewhat flagging economy. Despite this, investment in the ports has continued, indicating the belief held by the government in the importance of the ports as a means of regaining economic strength. This feeling is perhaps already being justified with both ports recording increased container throughputs over the past year.
