SPECTRAL WAVE FORECAST ANALYSIS AND OPERATIONAL EVALUATION FOR OFFSHORE LABRADOR OIL EXPLORATION
During the 1979 drilling season, spectral wave forecasts were produced for the offshore drill sites for the drill ships "Petrel", "Pelican" and "Pelerin". Waverider buoys within one kilometer of each vessel supplied wave data to verify the detailed directional wave spectra forecasts with projections out to 72 hrs. The need for spectral wave forecasts in support of offshore drilling is discussed with particular attention focused on the response of drill ships to local sea and propagated swell into the drill site areas.
