VEHICLE DOWNSIZING AND ROADSIDE SAFETY HARDWARE

The paper presents a review of the literature and discusses the evolution of vehicle size considerations in roadside safety hardware research. Results from ongoing research to identify safety problems in collisions of smaller vehicles and appropriate countermeasures are reviewed.
