BRAZILIAN VEGETABLE OILS AS FUEL AND LUBRICANTS

OLEOS VEGETAIS BRASILEIROS COMO COMBUSTIVEIS/LUBRIFICANTES

It is shown that some vegetable oils can be used as fuel instead of diesel oil, and as crude oil lubricants either directly in diesel engines, mixed with diesel oil or after thermal cracking. Among oily beans available in Brazil, soya, dende and castor beans are suitable, also babac and peanut. In the longer term some other oily raw products whose culture is still unknown may provide a solution at the regional level, for example, northeastern pine cones (pinhao bravoe manso), cotieira, etc. In addition to the advantages of all renewable products, vegetable oils have additional advantages: their culture and production does not pollute the environment, does not exhaust the soil, and does not offer any radiation risks.
