ALUMINIUM STUDS AS A ROAD MARKING MATERIAL
The authors discuss the problems of road marking material and resultant development of metallic studs, made of steel and aluminium alloys as an alternative. Design criteria, physical features, head anchorage, top surface, weitht, material used and mechanical properties of aluminium alloy studs developed by CRRI are detailed. Installation, spacing of studs, field performance, general appearance, durability and economic consideration are enumerated. The most effective use of the stud is noted when used in conjunction with paint markings. After three years of service these studs proved their durability and visibility. (TRRL)
