MODAL SPLIT OF THE COMMUTER TRAFFIC IN THE MAJOR URBANIZED AREAS IN JAPAN

The features of modal split of transportation systems were analysed in major cities in Japan where populations were over 100000. By means of cross-analysis and multiple regression analysis the authors attempt to develop the relation between modal split and city characteristics such as population, amount of commercial activity, production activity, and income per capita.
