ABILITY TO DRIVE IN SPITE OF TRANQUILIZERS. TRAFFIC-PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST RESULTS FOLLOWING INJECTION OF A LONG-TERM PREPARATION

FAHRTAUGLICH TROTZ TRANQILIZER. VERKEHRSPSYCHOLOGISCHE TESTERGEBNISSE NACH INJEKTION EINES LANGZEITPRAEPARATES

In order to study the influence of tranquilizers on driving aptitude a series of experiments was carried out with 40 volunteers. In this a section of the subjects were given 1.5 mg of a newly developed weekly tranquilizer. The methods of testing used for measuring the speed of comprehension, ability to concentrate, attentiveness, etc were the tachiscopic comprehension test, the line-following test and the attentiveness-loss test D2. In addition tests were carried out using the Vienna determination apparatus and the Vienna reaction apparatus. Further the subjective view of the test subjects was established. The results show that the performance curves of the verum group differ only marginally from those of the placebo group. However a tendency towards a reduction in attentiveness was shown here. In spite of the overall favourable results, (tranquilizers can have a favourable effect on driving aptitude if used correctly), at the beginning of treatment with the new tranquilizer care is necessary when at the wheel during an accustoming period of 2 weeks.
