AGGREGATE PRODUCER'S PROCESS CONTROL OF AGGREGATE GRADATION

A survey of current testing practices by Ontario aggregate producers and their existing laboratory facilities was undertaken as a move towards better process control by aggregate producers so that the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications can reduce its own acceptance testing of gradation. Producers currently having some process control by gradation testing were visited by members of the Soils and Aggregates Section, in order to obtain detailed information as to their laboratories, test procedures, frequency of testing and related data. Presented in this report is some background information, description of the interviews, and discussion and evaluation of the collected information and recommendations for further action.
