LABORATORY BEARING RATIO AND PERMEABILITY TESTS ON MTC BASE COURSE (GRAN. A) AGGREGATES

A limited scale laboratory test program was carried out in the Head Office Laboratories during the summer of 1980. The objective of this study was to obtain strength and permeability parameters of granular A aggregates of various gradations, extracted from a gravel and quarry source. Because of the existing financial constraints and the scarcity of available man-power and time, the scope of the investigation was by necessity very modest. Since however our present knowledge of the engineering characteristics of our base and subbase aggregates is less than adequate, it was felt that even some laboratory data would help to improve our understanding of the behavior and performance of these materials.
