A GUIDE TO DRUM MIXING

This guide is intended to familiarize and assist the field staff on Ministry contracts where the drum mix plant is used to produce asphaltic concrete. The guide results from a three year evaluation study completed by the Quality Assurance Section at Downsview. Based on the evaluation study, changes and modifications to the plant and equipment were implemented and special provisions drawn up to govern the drum mixer. The field staff will encounter slight variations in equipment incorporated by the different manufacturers, but the basic principle and testing required are uniform. (Author)
