PERFORMANCE OF THE RAPID ANALYSIS MACHINE IN DETERMINING CEMENT CONTENT OF PLASTIC CONCRETE. PART II--FIELD EVALUATION

A self contained mobile unit has been organized for determining the cement content of plastic concrete at job sites using the Rapid Analysis Machine (RAM). It was found that the machine is capable of determining cement content of fresh concrete with good efficiency and accuracy. The time elapsed from sampling to completion of one test was approximately 30 minutes. The average cement content in a ready-mix truck as determined by RAM was within +4 and -7.5% of the specified cement content. The report recommends some minor modifications to the unit and advises on how to avoid malfunctions in the routine operation of the machine under field conditions. (Author)
