This booklet briefly discusses the history, methods of manufacture, properties, applications and methods of use of the various types of lightweight concrete. After describingthe available natural and synthetic lightweight aggregates, the booklet deals with lightweight aggregate concrete, precast autoclaved aerated concrete, foamed in situ concreteand no-fines concrete. Tables are included to show typical properties of the various lightweight concretes. This edition differs from the previous one (published in 1975) mainly in the inclusion of information on a new type of lightweight aggregate (pelletized slag) and the deletion of the section on expanded slate, which is no longer being manufactured in the United Kingdom.(A) (TRRL)
