Abstract: This investigation contains the electrochemical study of the LINEA SENTINEL cathodic protection system, which consisted of three galvanic zinc anodes called: GL anode, Silver anode and Gold anode. These anodes were incorporated into reinforced concrete slabs manufactured according to the methodology of the "Protocol to Evaluate the Performance of Corrosion Mitigation Technologies in Concrete Repairs". Reinforced concrete slabs were manufactured with the addition of 2% chloride ion from sodium chloride (NaCl) and slabs without addition of the same ion; each slab contained eight reinforcing steel rods of 1.27 cm (½ inch) placed independently and enabled with their electrical connection. Four repair mortars were used: A, B, C y D. All the anodes were electrically connected to the reinforcing steel. After the connection of the anodes, the slabs were subjected to spraying cycles with 3.5% by weight sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, spraying cycles with tap water and outdoor drying cycles. In the case of slabs manufactured without the addition of chloride ions, the spraying cycles were with tap water The measurements consisted in measuring corrosion potential of the reinforcing steel (Ecorr) during and after the curing period, corrosion potential of the anode (Ecorr), polarized potential (Epol), galvanic current (Igalv) and depolarization potentials obtained after 1s (Einst off), 4 hours (E4) and 24 hours (E24) to interrupt the current between the anode and steel. These measurements was during 650 days in accordance with ASTM and NACE standards. The results indicated that the galvanic anodes of the Sentinel line are a suitable technology for the repair of reinforced concrete structures with corrosion problems and as a preventive system, as long as the area to be protected is adequate and calculated by design, as well as the Repair mortar is selected and applied correctly.
