Challenges in geotechnical design for infrastructure projects

Modern infrastructure projects present a number of key challenges for the geotechnical engineering professional. Major influences in terms of uncertainty and risk, commercial drivers and sustainability are explored in the context of two case studies in South East Queensland: a large scale linear highway development and the remediation of a small but critical crib wall.
