ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS

The Transportation program addresses each of five categories of methods for reducing per capita energy consumption in passenger and freight transportation: network improvements, operations changes, demand reduction, modal shifts, and improved vehicular energy conversion. The overall program is subdivided into five programs: technology development, strategy program under transportation systems utilization, primary environmental concerns and RDD&A requirements, environmental research and assessment plan, and projection of market penetration and petroleum energy savings for transportation programs. The technology development programs include: an automotive technology development program, an electric and hybrid vehicle systems program, and a hardware programs under transportation systems utilization.
