The new Southern Railway - an update on construction progress

This paper is intended to provide an update on the construction of the New Southern Railway (NSR). On the principle that a picture paints a thousand words, the presentation will be largely a slide show of latest photographs. Briefly, the NSR is a 10km addition to the CityRail network running between Central and Turrell a via the Airport. The railway is contained in 10km of tunnel with 5 new stations including one at each of the Domestic and International Terminals. The route has 2 stations in the Central Industrial Area and an Interchange Station at Wolli Creek to service both the lllawarra and NSR tracks. The Design and Construct Contractor for the Project is Transfield-Bouygues Joint Venture (TBJV). Slides of the latest stage of development will be shown at each of the sites where work is visible.
