The purpose of the report is to give a survey of visual problems along roads and streets in urban and rural areas. The report describes how the road user experiences his surroundings and how the road interacts with the landscape, the towns and cities and its vicinity. Finally, a number of theoretical proposals of how the visual conditions can be improved are put forward. (TRRL)
