Optimizing Departure Frequency of Modern Trams Based on Stochastic Demand

Considering that the frequency under fixed demand cannot meet the travel need of passengers, this paper studies the frequency optimization of modern trams based on stochastic demand. In this paper, the contradiction between passenger travel cost and operation cost is considered. According to the arrival characteristics of passenger flow under different demands, the authors propose a frequency model under fixed demand. Then, with the condition of the arrival of passenger flow obeying Poisson distribution, an optimization model based on stochastic demand is proposed. Taking the modern tram line of a certain city as an example, MATLAB is applied to simulate the model with the improved genetic simulated annealing algorithm. By simulation calculation, the departure frequencies under different demands are given. The results show that the departure frequency based on stochastic demand can better meet the demand of actual passenger flow, and minimize the cost of passengers and operators.
