THE LOGIT MODEL IN TRAFFIC PLANNING

TRAFIKPLANERING MED LOGITMODELLER

This publication presents examples of fields of application of the logit model in transport planning. Shopping trips are dealt with in the following examples: (1) bus journey to town centre or walking to local shop, (2) how travel pattern is influenced by increased local shops, (3) how travel pattern is influenced by parking charges at shops, (4) how journeys are influenced by doubled car operating costs, (5) consequences of no charges on public transport, consequences of reduced bus travel time and (6) effects of a changed shop structure. Journeys to work are dealt with in the following examples: (1) own car or bus trip to work, (2) how the choice between car or bus is influenced by parking charges and (3) other consequences of pay parking at working places. These examples illustrate the relation between model and concrete planning measures. The publication is mainly intended for practical planners. (TRRL)
