Modeling and Heuristic Algorithm of Ground Ferry Vehicle Scheduling in Large Airports

At present, ground service vehicle scheduling at most airports in China is still in the stage of manual management. The efficiency of this scheduling method is low, and it easily leads to flight delays. Kunming Changshui International Airport is used in this paper as a prototype. The ferry vehicle scheduling model is established with the objectives of: minimization of the total vehicle number, minimization of the total mileage of the vehicle, and the minimization of the difference in the workload between vehicles. Then the authors designed a two-stage algorithm for the scheduling problem, based on a heuristic algorithm. The empirical results show that the scheduling scheme can implement intelligent scheduling of airport ferry buses, effectively reduce the number of vehicles required, and the total mileage of vehicles, improve the equilibrium of vehicle workloads, and reduce the cost of ground services.
