SPEED LIMITS AS ACCIDENT PREVENTION MEASURES. A COMPARATIVE STUDY
This report covers firstly the results of a 'before and after' accident study of 23 sites in Norfolk where speed limits of 30, 40 and 50 mph had been imposed. The investigation was extended to include results from six other counties, and finally to include data from sixty-four counties in the UK. The results are considered to indicate the need for detailed examination of accident sites before introducing new or making changes to existing speed limits. (TRRL)
