CALCULATED AND SCALE MODEL EXPERIMENTALLY MEASURED SCATTERING FROM METALLIC STRUCTURES IN INSTRUMENT LANDING SYSTEM

Comparison is made of theoretically calculated and experimentally determined scattering from metallic tilted rectangles and vertical cylindrical scatterers. The scattering was experimentally measured in a scale model range at the Watertown Arsenal, Watertown, MA. The theoretically calculated scattering effects were obtained from the Transportation Systems Center, (TSC), physical optics model for ILS scattering. Reasonably good agreement was found between theoretically calculated and experimentally measured received power patterns. (Author)
