DEVELOPMENT OF A DISCRETE ADDRESS BEACON SYSTEM
The report includes results of recent studies directed at firming up all performance specifications being incorporated in the DABS engineering development model requirements documents. These studies included: the prediction of link performance under marginal operating conditions; the assessment of coding performance and candidate preambles; and the extension of sensor coverage predictions. Also included are the objectives of an effort to explore highly interrelated system and sensor functions via computer simulation, and descriptions of the latest modes of operation of the Channel Management, Surveillance Processing, Data Link Processing and Network Management functions and their subfunctions. Planning and analysis tasks to prepare for demonstrating IPC performance at DABSEF are given. Chapters on the DABS experimental facility summarize results to date from direction-finding and multipath experiments, and highlight progress being made to convert the facility from an experimental link to a demonstration sensor.
