ADVANCED STRENGTH ANALYSIS METHOD TO IMPROVE RELIABILITY OF CYLINDER COVER OF MARINE DIESEL ENGINE

The paper describes an investigation of jacket cooling type and bore cooling type cylinder covers for slow-speed diesel engines and double bottom cylinder heads for medium-speed diesel engines. Superimposed stress wave fatigue tests were carried out based on the results of load measurements and corrosion fatigue tests. Stress analysis problems that remain unsolved or require further examination were examined and commented upon for the three types of cylinder covers. The discussion on the paper is included.
