PROGRESS IN DEVELOPING M.A.N. TWO-STROKE AND FOUR-STROKE DIESEL ENGINES

An outline of the most important new items in M.A.N.'s engine production programme is followed by a synopsis of the stiffness and deformation characteristics of the basic structure of the KSZ-B engines where the results of measurements are compared with the results of finite element calculations. Characteristics of various assemblies of the KSZ engine are described. The principles forming the basis of the design of the new four-stroke engines and their assemblies are outlined followed by a new crankshaft calculation method.
