NEW DESIGNS, FIBRE PIPE IN EDENS LIGHTING INSTALLATION

The Edens Expressway reconstruction in Chicago has attracted worldwide attention because of the imaginative and innovative nature of the project. Under ordinary circumstances and usual procedures, the lighting for an expressway runs along the sides of the road and does an effective illumination job. However, the specifications for the Edens project call for the light standards to be placed on the center line separating the three-lane north and south roadways -- which required new approaches. The article discusses materials and methods employed to meet these specifications.
