PROBLEMS IN CASTING AND LAUNCHING OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE GIRDERS OVER RIVER BETWA AT HAMIRPUR ON KANPUR-SAGOUR STATE HIGHWAY AND THEIR SOLUTIONS

In addition to giving design details of the Betwa Bridge at Hamirpur the paper describes the procedure adopted for casting and launching of very slender prestressed concrete beams and the problems encountered due to the unstable road embankment made up of a poor type of soil over which the easting bed, the stacking platforms and the launching tracks had to be made. Effort has been made in this paper to discuss at length as to how these problems were actually tackled during the execution of this work which was entirely done by the departmental agency only.
