IN-CYLINDER EGR CUTS HC AND NOX EMISSIONS

Honda researchers have discovered that HC and NOx emissions from the Honda CVCC stratified-charge can be decreased via a system of in-cylinder exhaust gas recirculation. Known as the branched conduit system, the new strategy permits burnt and unburnt gases to circulate from the main combustion chamber into a torch chamber (via the branched conduits), and then recirculate back into the main chamber for a second combustion event.
