CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM ELIMINATES VACUUM ACTUATORS
Certain full-sized 1980 Buicks are equipped with a microprocessor-controlled heating and air conditioning system which is completely electrically operated, independent of engine vacuum. The system uses electric motor actuators to position mode valves and the air blend valve under the control of the microprocessor, which also provides the capability to analyze system operation and displaY visual diagnostic signals if service is required. Introduction of electronics into the system provides capability for infinitely-variable blower speed control and simple touch operation.
