CENTRALIZED PRECASTING CUTS COSTS
The operation of a small precasting plant turning out concrete segments for all of the structures required for a 160-mile tollroad program in southeastern France is outlined. The system consists of a pair of two-lane roadways, with a fifth one added on some viaducts. There are 2.4 miles of the twin-structure viaducts, some on high piers, and 3.8 miles of overpasses. One route has two, three-lane tunnels totaling 4 miles long.
