RESEARCH ON DESIGN VEHICLES FOR GUIDELINES ON ROAD DESIGN

ONDERZOEK ONTWERPVOERTUIGEN VOOR RICHTLIJNEN ONTWERPEN WEGEN

This article deals with the research on design vehicles which has been carried out by IW/TNO at the requrest of the Rijkswaterstaat, Dienst Verkeerskunde. This research has been aimed at the collection of data on vehicles in the Netherlands. On this basis a profile of design vehicles was drawn up, containing characteristics which tailor the design of provisions for road traffic. The data are being used by the ROA and RONA committees for defining guidelines on road design. The data collected also can be used for the design of various road traffic provisions within the built-up area. (TRRL)
