ON PRANDTL'S CANTILEVER BEAM SUBJECTED TO A BENDING MOMENT

The stability behaviour of a cantilever beam subjected to the bending moment is investigated. It is found that the beam has divergence and flutter instability loads depending on the type of loading. Moreover, it is shown that a beam subjected to a follower moment and a beam subjected to a bending moment which keeps its direction in the course of the motion behave in exactly the same way, according to the numerical calculations.
